Website Design
I handle every step of comprehensive website design, from initial marketing strategy to graphic design to back-end coding. In addition to producing HTML and CSS clean enough to eat off of, I work in PHP and MySQL, if you know what those are or even care — in non-nerdspeak, that means I create websites filled with dynamic content: catalogs, shopping carts, content management systems, discussion boards, and so on. I also create very attractive brochure-type sites with static content.
My design priorities are:
- Websites that are easy to understand and navigate.
- Content and structure that addresses your fundamental marketing needs -- the site needs to tell your story in the clearest, most direct way possible.
- Back-end coding that is clean and correct, and thorougly tested on a variety of browsers and platforms.
- Clean, functional look and feel. Your company and message is the star of the show, not an overbuilt, complex site.
Here are some client websites I've created:
- Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants: Comprehensive rebuild in final testing stages now. Dynamic content management throughout, news feed, image management, the works.
- Olson Communications Inc.: Olson Communications is a high-end public relations firm in Phoenix, comprised of a brilliant staff of writers and PR thinkers who wanted a way to show off their brains. Same as always: custom content management, custom art direction, custom everything. This one I'm proud of not only for the message it conveys, but the quirky interface as well.
- Right Place Properties: My latest and greatest, a website for a condo conversion company. I designed a very robust custom-designed content management system that allows the client to add new properties, new floorplans, manage all the site data, control a news feed...it's all very fancy and I'm proud to have been a part of this project.
- Brignall Construction: Massive back-end upgrade, with some minor aesthetic changes up front. The site now features full content management services.
- Tempe Preparatory Academy: Massive community-building site, content management, multiple editors, file management site, and a structure designed to grow indefinitely along with the school -- my most extensive website project ever. Currently going through a big freshening-up of the interface -- check it out in March!
- Team Red Energy: Site for an adventure racing team trying to gather sponsors and keep in touch with their fans. Just completed, now we're in the fine-tuning stages. This site brings together a lot of ideas at once: site management by the owner, an image gallery, and keyword-tagged news.
- Titan Security: Super-fast redesign, reorganization and rebranding for this company after it was purchased.
- NeShoDain: Okay, never mind the weird name. This playground and school equipment reseller needed a quick solution that would have room to grow. Identity, content management.
- Six G West/Poliform Phoenix: I'm very proud of the design on this site but the client has been very slow to populate it with contents. An example of a client who thinks he wants to write/edit his own site only to discover websites are not his core competency. Click on the logo in the upper left-hand corner to enter the site proper and see how it works.
- Oz Blog: My personal blog covering the month my fiancee and I spent in Australia in 2006. Not super-flashy but a good place to read my writing.
- Gilbert Veterinary Hospital: Extensive content management solution.
- Patrick Burt, Artisan Jeweler: Content management, catalog. Really pretty, classy site.
- Pavement Marking, Inc.: Design, content management.
- University Animal Hospital: Design, content management. Recently rebuilt and redeployed this site.
- Brooks Engineers Inc.: Design, Flash minimovie. Cool little site.
- Corbins Electric: Long-standing design and content management solution. I'm now redesigning the entire site -- check it out in July!
- Theico: Technology Help, Inc.: Interesting layout, currently working on a major update.
I also manage sites and patch up messes produced by other designers.
